ABOUT

Deb Davies

Hi, I'm Deb!

I’m an experienced acupuncturist and women’s health expert with a passion for pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum. Over the past 20 years, I’ve had the honor of supporting thousands of women, through the beautiful journey of fertility, pregnancy, and birth. I love to educate and empower expecting couples to have safe and healthy pregnancies, deliveries, and recoveries while offering natural options in healthcare. And, using acupuncture and Chinese medicine adds incredible healthcare options about which many folks are not yet aware. Most importantly, I help the couple choose what feels right for them—no matter what their individual situation may be with the pregnancy or the baby—their bodies, their birth, their way! My heart simply sings to the tune of this work and here’s why…

Deb’s Story

I’m the mother of two girls. In March 2001, Mia Belle, my firstborn, was delivered still from a cord accident at term. This was a very difficult and emotional time for me. A year later, I was blessed with a beautiful, healthy baby girl—my sweet and precious Lauryn. My daughters fill me with such enormous gratitude and an unshakable sense of connection and awe, so much so that I’ve decided to dedicate my life to the service of elevating the experience of pregnancy and birth for all women. This is my deepest, most sincere desire, and my girls are truly the inspiration behind this work.

Through my personal journey of going through the loss of my first daughter and then experiencing the joys of motherhood, I’ve developed a profound sense of empathy and understanding toward women who’ve experienced complications during pregnancy. My desire is to instill HOPE and CONFIDENCE within the hearts of these women and their families while doing my absolute best to safeguard them from any pitfalls that may come up along the way.

Pregnancy & Birth Expert

Using Chinese Medicine, acupuncture, and lifestyle and dietary adjustments, I also work closely with women to overcome fertility obstacles. My goal is always to help expectant parents to maintain a healthy and enjoyable full-term pregnancy. I offer techniques to prepare and empower expectant couples for an optimal birth experience, such as acupressure points that couples can use throughout pregnancy and birth, teaching birth education classes, and so much more. I’ve found these skills to be indispensable and have witnessed the positive and transformative effects they’ve had on couples who practice them together.

Birth Doula

I’ve also trained extensively as a birth doula, and combining my skills of acupuncture and knowledge as a doula, I provide massage, ear seeds, magnets, acupressure, and acupuncture, as well as comfort, emotional support, and undivided loving attention toward mothers-to-be and their families during labor and delivery as the powerful process of birthing unfolds. This on-call service can be pre-planned or decided last minute. I attends births at hospitals, homes, and birth centers all around San Diego County.
I’m also here to provide safe and effective healing for your postpartum needs, including C-section recovery, while addressing any of your questions or concerns that may have come up along the way.
I’m truly blessed to be in such a rewarding position where I get to live the life I love and give women and expecting couples permission to have the pregnancy and birth that they’ve always dreamed.

Education

I’m currently working toward my Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, and plan to complete this degree in 2020. I’ve been in the healthcare field since 1996 and already hold certifications in Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Birth Education, Massage Therapy, Oriental Body Therapy and Holistic Health Care from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (PCOM). I received extensive post-graduate training in the fields of women’s health, fertility, obstetrics, and labor and delivery from several outstanding mentors including doctors Robin Saraswati Tiberi (DAOM, LAc, MTOM, ERYT), Debra Betts (PhD, LAc), and Jill Blakeway (DAOM, MSc, LAc).
As a licensed acupuncturist, I own an integrative health center in which I maintain a private practice in Hillcrest. I’m a DONA trained doula, and have been supporting births since 2007. My teaching career began in 2009 at PCOM. In 2014, I became a certified childbirth educator, and have been teaching birth education ever since. I’m also a California state and Nationally certified continuing education provider for licensed acupuncturists and teach courses on Childbirth Acupuncture both online and in the classroom.
